Jaren Voight-Cerf is a Montréal based recording artist and songwriter. Born and raised in Wyoming, she was influenced by folk and country music from an early age. At seven years old she embarked on what would become a successful 10-year-career as a young country singer/yodeller. At 18, she was seduced by the big city of Los Angeles where she spent nine years working in the film and music industry. There she met Matt Cerf, dj and producer, and together they made their mark in the world of EDM (three IDMA nominations; hit singles with artists Armin van Buuren, Dash Berlin, and many more; two world tours).
During that time, Jaren released her first folk album, Fixin’ it Upright, with two of Sweden’s finest producers, Alar Suurna (Roxette), and Jerker Eklund.
Since her transition to Montreal in 2011, Jaren has explored the French-Canadian music scene and collaborated with both French and Québec artists (Sébastien Lefebvre, Antoine Clamaran), and several major label Canadian recording artists.
She writes for herself and others, most notably for young Canadian artists (Andee, Michelle Treacy, Eva Avila, Maria-Janice, Lukay) and also works as a vocal accent coach.
Jaren is currently working on her second folk album, set to release in 2015, and an independent film project.
